Serves: 4 | 🍽️ One-Pot Meal
📝 Ingredients
- 350g (12 oz) dry pasta — spaghetti, penne, or fusilli
- 400g (14 oz) can crushed tomatoes
- 2 cups water or vegetable broth
- ½ cup heavy cream (or half-and-half)
- 1 small onion — finely diced
- 2 cloves garlic — minced
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp dried basil
- ½ tsp dried oregano
- ¼ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- ½ tsp salt & black pepper — to taste
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese + extra for serving
- Fresh basil leaves — for garnish
👨🍳 Instructions
- Sauté aromatics: Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add onion — cook 3 minutes until soft. Stir in garlic, basil, oregano, and red pepper flakes — cook 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add liquids & pasta: Pour in crushed tomatoes and water/broth. Add salt and pepper. Stir in the dry pasta — make sure it's fully submerged.
- Simmer: Bring to a boil, then lower heat to medium-low. Simmer 12–15 minutes, stirring frequently, until pasta is tender and sauce thickens.
- Make it creamy: Stir in heavy cream and Parmesan. Simmer 1–2 more minutes until glossy and thickened.
- Serve: Taste and adjust salt. Garnish with fresh basil and extra Parmesan. Enjoy! 🍝✨
💡 Pro Tips
- Short pasta shapes work best — penne, fusilli
- Swap cream for cream cheese or Greek yogurt for lighter version
- Add cooked chicken or shrimp for extra protein
